A comprehensive explanation of the means and benefits of developing greater presence and humility in the Muslim ritual prayer, based on the text Ishraq ul-Qarar ("Radiance of the Hereafter"). Delivered in a beautiful poetic format, this inspiring text by the great West African scholar, Muhammad Maulud, addresses all the elements of this "backbone of the five pillars" to assist the student in taking the prayer to a deeper level than simply its outward, physical actions and to make each prayer a spiritual journey in itself. Students will receive a printable PDF of the course text’s English translation. (*This course is taught in Arabic with simultaneous English translation by Usama Canon.)
Shaykh Salek bin Siddina is from Mauritania, West Africa, a country known for producing some of the Muslim world's most knowledgeable scholars. He studied for over 17 years in the famous mountain region of Taganat, from numerous accomplished scholars including Murabit al-Hajj, one of the greatest scholars of our age. In addition to memorizing the entire Quran in two of its recitations, he has studied and mastered some of the most advanced texts in the disciplines of Islamic jurisprudence (fiqh), arabic grammer (nahu), doctrinal creed (aqidah), prophetic narration (hadith), and the study of the life of the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him (seerah). From a family tracing its lineage back to Jafar ibn Abi Talib, may Allah be well pleased with him, he is respected and widely regarded amongst his peers as a scholar of the highest caliber. He currently runs a school in Mauritania teaching the Quran, Islamic law, and numerous other subjects to children and adults of all ages. |

It was a great honor and pleasure to be able to learn under Shaykh Salek bin Siddina. The Shaykh is unique in his traditional study of Islam for over 16 years in the desserts of Mauritania, and it is a miracle that we can access the same sacred knowledge over the internet.
The class itself was extremely beneficial and systematic in its approach to the prayer, inspiring the student from every angle to appreciate what most of us unfortunately find to be an outward ritual. What I found to be the most beneficial though, is when the Shaykh departs from the text to deliver insightful wisdom on our struggles in this day and age.
For anyone that is having trouble finding contentment in their prayer, this class is for you. May Allah extend the benefit of our beloved teacher.- W. Ahmed
